7 Mart 1933 ak\u015fam\u0131 Atatürk’ün ba\u015fkanl\u0131\u011f\u0131nda yap\u0131lan bir toplant\u0131da Türkçedeki Arapça ve Farsça kelimelere kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131klar bulmak için bir anket düzenlenmesine karar verilir. Türk Dili Tetkik Cemiyeti taraf\u0131ndan belirlenen 1382 kelime, 12 Mart 1933’ten itibaren 10-15 kelimelik listeler hâlinde her gün gazeteler ve radyolar arac\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131yla halka duyurulur. Halk\u0131n bu kelimelere Türkçe kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131k bulmas\u0131 istenir. Önerilen kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131klar da yine halk taraf\u0131ndan gazetelere veya Türk Dili Tetkik Cemiyetine gönderilecektir. Dil anketi yakla\u015f\u0131k 4 ay sürer. Ankete Anadolu’nun her yan\u0131ndan kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131klar gönderilir. Kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131k önerenler aras\u0131nda Abdülhak Hamit Tarhan gibi o dönemin tan\u0131nm\u0131\u015f ki\u015fileri de vard\u0131r; Anadolu’nun ücra köylerinde görevli, ad\u0131 duyulmam\u0131\u015f ö\u011fretmenler de vard\u0131r.<\/p>\n
Bu kitap; Ak\u015fam, Cumhuriyet, Milliyet, Hâkimiyeti Milliye, Son Posta, Türk Dili, Vakit gazetelerine gönderilen kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131klar\u0131n belirlenip sunulmas\u0131na ve s\u0131n\u0131fland\u0131r\u0131lmas\u0131na dayanmaktad\u0131r. Bu gazetelerin Mart 1933 –Temmuz 1933 aras\u0131ndaki say\u0131lar\u0131 taranarak hangi kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131n kim taraf\u0131ndan hangi kelime için önerildi\u011fi ve önerilen bu kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131n hangi gazetede hangi gün yay\u0131mland\u0131\u011f\u0131 tespit edilmi\u015ftir. Dil anketi sayesinde türetme veya canland\u0131rma yoluyla yaz\u0131 dilimize birçok kelime yerle\u015fmi\u015ftir ama bu kelimeleri türetenlerin, önerenlerin, canland\u0131ranlar\u0131n isimleri gazete ar\u015fivlerinde kalm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r; unutulmu\u015ftur. Bugün kulland\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z baz\u0131 kelimeleri, dil anketine kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131k gönderenlere borçluyuz.
